My father in-law had his 70th birthday this weekend and we threw him a surprise birthday party. If he’s not driving his log truck he can be found out in the barn piddling around with his 1962 Ford Unibody Truck. I knew almost instantly how we needed to theme the party… He is a man of few words but he loves what he loves. If you’re looking for some birthday ideas for the man in your life, look no further.
For dinner we hired a local food truck to cater barbeque. Guests filled their plates with smoked pork ribs, chicken, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, green beans and rolls. The birthday boy barely had enough room for dessert.
Sugar cookies were made by Kiko Cookies following the theme of his 1962 red Ford Unibody truck but also using his logtruck and callsign “Hambone”. Not only were they intricately designed but they tasted good too!
The “icing on the cake” was a hand painted 1 tier funfetti cake made by Saltwater Sprinkles. An edible image of his truck was printed and placed on the cake and painted around. I was stunned at the thoughtful detail and I thought the speed limit sign detail was the perfect touch.
